SCAPIS is a world-unique research study aimed at preventing heart-lung disease.
A large part of this study is about collecting medical image data, which is why SCAPIS need to store images from ultrasound, CT and MRI in DICOM format (“Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine” (see more at www.dicomstandard.org)) securely.
The images will be used for research and extraction of images for research projects will take place on an ongoing basis for a long time to come.
The DICOM images previosly where stored at six fundraising receptions on university hospitals (sites) in Sweden.
Viximed is supporting SCAPIS with knowledge of secure DICOM transfer, setting up and maintaining a SCAPIS DICOM archive and consulting sites during migration of data to the central storage.
